Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me. A few days ago I updated my Aluminum iMac (late 2007 model) to Mac OSX 10.5.7. The first day I had no problems or issues and it was booting as normal until the other day I tried to boot my iMac and it hung on the blue screen with a message telling me that "spotlight has quit unexpectedly".

I then connected my affected iMac to my MacBook Pro and did Target Disk Mode and tried to reinstall Mac OSX 10.5.7 using the combo update version. I then did a repair disc permission on disk utility using my Leopard upgrade disc and rebooted. I still get the same problem  Only difference is that for some reason I have stopped getting the message telling me that "spotlight has quit unexpectedly".

I would just reinstall Leopard but I don't want to lose my files.

I have been told to do an Archive and Install but the problem is that I don't have the retail disc of Leopard to do that. I only have the Leopard Upgrade disc.

Strange thing is that the Mac OSX 10.5.7 update works great on my MacBook but doesn't work on my iMac. I wonder if it could be a video card problem on the iMac. :(

Any ideas?
