Arneball
Hi. Got iatkos with vanilla 9.2.0 kernel installed. Upgraded to 10.5.7 and everything worked fine except mounting dmg files causing kernel panics. Found a solution including updating seatbelt.kext. I found no info updating it having the 9.2.0 kernel, so i thought; lets upgrade to voodoo kernel, wich i did by replacing /kernel_mach with the newer one. On boot it hangs at bsd root major x minor y. I wonder how i can redo this "upgrade"… Is the way to go to boot a linux up, mount the HFS+ partition and overwrite the mach_kernel with the vanilla kernel found on the iatkos iso-file? Im stuck on this. Please help. Thank you! edit 1. The line before bsd root yadda yadda says something about ACPI and the hdd's model number. Thought of maybe disabling acpi somehow in bios, however i dont know wich function to turn off. Got a gigabyte ep43-ds3l. Arneball
Hi. Still failing at booting. This picture shows the problems i have booting from HDD typing "mach_kernel.bak -v". Photo number 2 is from when i boot from cd. Right before the first Still waiting for root device the hdd shuts down and stays like this forever. Do i have to clear the MBR to be able to boot from the iatkos dvd? Will just overwriting the mach_kernel (once i got into the installation process properly) with the vanilla one make it work? Plz answer since my mac g4 just died and now my stationary.
