Roders
Whatever I do, when I've applied the Apple 10.5.3 update to my 10.5.2 kalaway build, my Mac, will restart and fail to boot the Mac OS. I've tried all the general troubleshooting (at boot, different kernal, video flags etc), with no success at all, and have reinstalled the Mac OS numerous times with various different kernals (incl vanilla). I 've come to the conclusion it must be a kernal extension that I need to to remove, as although I have to install networking and audio, I never have to install Gfx drivers for my Nv8800GT (i.e. I have QE core image and OpenGL acceleration), which I had to the 1st ever time I installed Kalaway to get these features. I have manually removed what i believ to be the Gfx/video Kexts for my card, but I always have QE core image and OpenGL acceleration, when I reinstall the Mac OS using the existing install/directory structure. Roders
Ok Finally found some time to do this, so- Have you try this update "Kalyway_UpdCombo10.5.3" ??just google it, you will found it with needed notice Yes, I've always used Kalyway_UpdCombo10.5.3 (not the apple combo update) I believe the Black screen on rebooting after applying the update is down to the USB & Gfx drivers for my Nv 8800GT (downloaded with OSXTools) I just need to find a deffinitve way of completely removing them prior to the update (is manually deleting Ok, and what about the cache?). Roders
Ok, this workled fine when I disabled gfx/USB kexts (installed by osx tool). So I'm ruunning 10.5.3 using Chameleon 9 EFI and DSDT for Gfx, whats the safest best upgrade root (10.5.4 delta, then combo to 10.5.6?), and how fars safe to go (10.5.6/7?) as I should now be running the Vanilla kernal.
