Pyrokenesis_17
Hey there folks, its been a while since I attempted to install Leopard, but its been on my sights the entire time. I recently decided to give it another shot and noticed I could only boot into the installer using one build, Kalyway 10.5.1. So I was able to install (WOW!!!!) and now am kinda screwed... you see now I can't boot into the partition without running rd=disk0s1 from the DVD, which then forces me to boot into safe mode. Aside from this, its 10.5.1 and I need 10.5.5 minimum to install my 9800gtx, so once again im screwed. I attempted to do a "combo" update to 10.5.6 using this guide http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/12/up...5x-to-1056.html but that actually screwed me over even more, now not even rd=disk0s1 works... Also, im using a SATA DVD drive and installing to an IDE drive, but when I try to load the installer with my SATA HDDs attached, the installation freezes after the kalyway message pops up and asks you to click agree, afterwards when you click continue the installer freezes but the mouse is free to move. ironically, I can boot into the leopard installation using rd=disk0s1 with SATA drives attached.... Would anyone be willing to help me resolve these issues? Id really love to be able to boot into Leopard without the constant combination needing to be entered... One thing about the guide above, I did NOT install the pc efi bootlaoder, I installed chameleon, since the installation attempt of the PC EFI bootloader gave me a APPLE SCRIPT ERROR. EDIT: Well turns out I was able to install Darwin on the partition, using a guide from this link http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=209 Now the only problem is I cant boot into the OS regularly, the -x must be used (once again must be forced to do safe boot)? I lied, as i'm writing this i'm awaiting the login window to show up... well it didn't, only a blue screen and the arrow..... *sigh* back to research Hardware Using: Striker II Extreme (nVidia 790i Ultra SLI) 2 x 2GB OCZ Reaper @ 1333 mhz Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 3.0 GHz (Capable of MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64t) SATA DVD Drive 2 x SATA HDD 1 x IDE HDD Also, if I may ask, would it be possible to run a vanilla kernel using this hardware? Some sources state the processor needs to be Core2Duo or higher, some state SSE3 is needed... well which one is it? Could I work with what I have? I certainly hope someone can help me out here, ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
