Capman
Hi. Let's get right down to it. I'm about to choose a Distro, however as a reet noob I haven't got the faintest idea which one would be best for my PC. I also need to know what kexts would be the best to use - I'm still confused about kexts as a whole, but I'm doing my best to learn! Here is my setup: Asus M2N MX-SE (nForce I believe) AMD Athlon 4200+ Nvidia GeForce 8600GT SATA Hard Drive Generic PCI Sound Card (can remove if necessary) USB External DVD Drive USB wireless Keyboard and Mouse Currently connected to monitor via a DVI-HDMI convertor in the card, then HDMI lead to monitor. Can (but rather wouldn't) use a VGA lead if necessary. So, any help? I DID try this about a year ago (with internal IDE DVD drive) but knew even less then than now, and I always got "still waiting for root device" no matter what I tried. But that was a year ago, hopefully things are better now. thirdshift
I've used Iatkos v2i and Ideneb v4, both give me "waiting for root device". From my understanding you need an IDE hard drive because of the nforce chipset.
