Mr. Ksoft
I am trying to get some kind of OS X install to work on my main desktop. The specs are as follows: HP Pavilion a1130n MSI MS-7093 motherboard (SB400 chipset) Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2ghz 1 GB DDR RAM 250GB SATA HDD 200GB IDE HDD <trying to install onto this. It is on the primary IDE channel as master, and the jumpers match this. 2 IDE DVD burners Radeon Xpress 200 integrated graphics (already aware this won't work with QE/CI, planning to buy a cheap Nvidia if I can get OS X to install at all) AC97 audio Basically, there doesn't seem to be a single install DVD that will install. I've tried iPC 10.5.6, iDeneb 10.5.5, and even JaS 10.4.8. They all hang with "still waiting for root device". I unplugged my SATA drive for this and put my IDE hard drive in the primary IDE position, as I've heard of problems with SATA, and it did not help. I also tried disabling the SATA controllers in the BIOS... still nothing. An idea came to me and I put the hard drive in a computer I know can boot OSX86 (but I can't use as a main machine due to RAM limitations and an ATI card with unfixable mouse tearing) and used it to install iDeneb 10.5.5 onto the drive-- and was able to install SB400 chipset drivers. However, upon putting the drive back in my main computer, I still get the same issue. I tried things like rd=disk0s1 and -x switches, still nothing. Anyone had success with the MS-7093 motherboard or just the SB400 chipset in general, or should I just stop trying? Mr. Ksoft
I just wanted to bump this to say that I have solved the issue, in case anyone else has this board. xXx_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final has compatibility with this motherboard. The installer will load if it's fed the -x command, although getting to the installer will take about 15 minutes past that (it will appear to hang after many lines regarding mDNSresponder, but if it's left alone it will continue loading after a few minutes). However, once in the installer, the installation is very fast-- under 20 minutes. All my hardware worked immediately, except for my video hardware, but there's a new video card on its way to remedy that.
