matmatoo
Hey everyone!! Well, I hope your Hacking is going well and we are using the share beauty that is, Mac Operating System!! I have finally established a working Leopard 10.5.7 System on my Dell Insipron 1520, HOWEVER.... I really, really, REALLY need assistance finding kexts or some files to help with the following (That do not work)... --Battery Icon (Cannot find a kext that would work properly) --Sleep Mode (Cannot find a file that will make the laptop sleep when I close the lid) --Restart/Power off (Laptop hangs at a black screen and doesn't power off completely) --Inbuilt microphone (Doesn't work) I understand I need to search through forums however I have attempted kexts and had panics which has lead me to reinstalling OS 32 Times, and Since I have uni exams very, very soon, I really would LOVE it if someone could show me some direction as to finding files to fix the above problems. Again, I am sorry for not "doing it myself", I have tried, countless times to which I have failed. Please Help! -Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169919-retail-leopard-1057-on-dell-inspiron-1520/ Share on other sites
dsmevolution
The battery on it should be a standard ACPI Compliant battery system. The VoodooBattery.kext should do the job. I literally just installed it on my laptop and it worked great http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html Hope that helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169919-retail-leopard-1057-on-dell-inspiron-1520/#findComment-1172993 Share on other sites
matmatoo
I installed a Voodoo Battery kext and got a panic, do I need anything else with this file in order for it to work without a panic? dsmevolution , Thanks for the advice, I downloaded the kext, installed it however now two battery icons appear and it remains on "Calculating" when I take the power cord out of the laptop, aka its not finishing calculating the time left with the battery... -Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169919-retail-leopard-1057-on-dell-inspiron-1520/#findComment-1172996 Share on other sites
dsmevolution
Which kernal did you choose when you installed OS X? The Vanilla Kernel *should* have the acpi framework, but it's sounding like you don't have it. Not sure what else to say, i'm still fairly new to this myself and only just recently completing my second hackintosh. Hopefully someone here can give you more info. vegaman
If you've got an 8600m gt and you're using chameleon (or another bootloader with DSDT override capability) you could try my vostro 1500 dsdt from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...&start=380#, I think the hardware is the same. You could copy it into /Extra as vostro.aml and specify it in the chameleon boot screen with DSDT=vostro.aml and see if it works before renaming it DSDT.aml If it's compatible with the Inspiron 1520 it should get a lot of stuff working and you can remove disabler.kext, then VoodooBattery.kext and VoodooPower.kext should work. Sleep needs VoodooUSBEHCI.kext from http://www.superhai.com/darwin.html to work at all, and the patched DSDT makes sleep on lid close work. Restart/Power off is a common problem that seems to happen when the nvidia kexts are loaded, I don't think a solution has been found. I've attached the kext I use for audio, it autoswitches between headphones and inbuilt speaker for output and inbuilt mic and line in for input. TY TY i used dsdt and it works. it sees my T7250 2.0Ghz as 1.82GHz i guess i neeed to update that code in it.. i used Leppy700m d620v2 iso for prebootcd but i didnt do any of his scripting or mods as its not proper model instead i did dsdt, voodoops2, fakesmc, AppleHda for Stac9205 and using dw1505 dellwireless. works out of box UPDATE: used someone elses DSDT (DSDT_1330_T7250_8400GS.dsl) with TMR IRQ removed for usb properly working. and added this AGP section to that dsdt.. working sweet 10.5.x on nvidia 8600M GT 256MB Here DSDT_Insp_1520_T7250_HDEF_8600mgt256MB.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169919-retail-leopard-1057-on-dell-inspiron-1520/#findComment-1333416 Share on other sites
LatinMcG
by the way.. i cant use leppys cd to boot with bios A09.. waiting for root (ahci or ata/ide same) last time i was able to boot with it was A08 .. hmmm or it could be atheros card interfering with sata/ata channels ? UPDATE: apparently its the IDE timing registers in dsdt makes cdrom drop from use. add the fix to both Sata ide0 and PATA ide1 section in dsdtse tool has the 2 fixes in 1 window .use second. i boot with usb hdd with dvd restored to it and dsdt in EFI.
