macprodan
Hey! The latest beta was kind of stable so we're sending out the first Release Candidate now! This version has no debug-code running so it should be a lot faster. Some of the bugs that you've reported are bugs that are to be found in 3.0.4 as well. We will not fix these in this version but they've been added to the backlog for a future release of Reason. BUGS THAT HAVE AND HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED ###################################### 1. We have noticed that in some cases, the UI thread in Reason can cause the audio thread (created by CoreAudio/the sound driver) to not get enough time. For example, scrolling the Reason rack by dragging the thumb of the vertical rack scroll bar can cause cracking in Reason's audio output. Status: We're in touch with Apple about this. Reason 3.0.4 behaves in the same way so this is not a bug that relates only to 3.0.5 ------------ 2. Reason 3.0.5 clicks/skips on first playback of song. As a user writes, when I load up almost any song and play it from the beginning immediately, it begins fine, but as devices are played for the first time, playback has a definite audible 'click' (it could be a skip, but I'm reserving judgement there) - almost as if it's accessing the disk to load the patch/samples. This behaviour I think has been around for some time now (even in the PowerPC releases), and is present in CPU-hungry and CPU-friendly songs, but I find that it is much more pronounced in build 659, more so than in the previous build. Status: Please check this with the Release Candidate. If you can build a case and recipe for reproducing this we'd be moste grateful. ------------ 3. Fiddling with buffersizes can cause a crash. If you change the buffersize from 64 to 192000 Reason will crash. Status: This bug is to be found in 3.0.4 as well and will be fixed in a future release. ------------ 4. Latency in Remote when using Korg microKONTROL. As a user writes, "Basically I set up a mixer and a sequencer track to control it with. I move a fader on my controller and then wait for a little while for them to move in Reason. It doesn't happen right away like I'm used to. If I move the faders slowly then it's ok. I've tried all latency settings. All my rotary dials work ok." Status: Please check this case as well. Not sure if it is a bug since all other aspects of Remote works ok. ------------ 5. Reason 3.0.5 asserts when transposing beyond limits in sequencer As a user writes, when notes are transposed up beyond G8 and down beyond C-2 in certain situations, an Assert message appears: Assert SequencerEventUtils.cpp(251). The assert keeps appearing when you click on the sequencer, the transport, or when you scroll vertically or horizontally in the sequencer. It appears over and over (rendering further use almost impossible) until you either "undo" the transposition or you delete the offending notes, both of which will cause multiple Asserts. Status: The problem was that the transpose code didn't check for the case when two selected notes were tranposed "into" one another due to the clipping of the note numbers to the valid note number range. This is now fixed! ------------ 6. ReWire issues with Garageband 3.0.2 and Live 5.2 You don't get any sound from Reason in Garageband if you have Live 5.2 installed. Status: We're in touch with Apple about this. Not sure where the problem lies. OTHER CHANGES ############# No more testing on Reason Adapted for members of the Public Beta. Only the demo will be released without debug code. THE GOLDEN BUG ############## No one has found it so far. It's still there. The tension is rising! AREAS OF INTEREST FOR US ######################## Please dig in when it comes to performance. If you have access to a PowerMac with 10.3.9 or 10.4, please compare Reason 3.0.5 to 3.0.4 in terms of performance. ReWire issues with Garageband or Live. Anything strange going on? IMPORTANT STUFF! LOOK HERE! ########################### Uninstall the beta version if you've had it installed previously. All for now! See you on the board.
