Kampfkeule
Hi, First of all my specs: MSI P35 Neo-F (with custom Bios, to get all cores working) Geforce GTX260 4 GB Ram Q6600 I am trying to install Leo an my PC using a retail DVD. I tried different boot-132 isos and even created a custom one with all the drivers needed for my machine. The result is always the same: The boot-process freezes even before I get to see the graphical installation screen. There are some errors (see attachment), but no Kernel Panic. It just freezes. I even waited for about an hour, just to be sure that it is frozen. The Kalyway 10.5.1 installation DVD is booting up fine, but I´d really like to have a clean vanilla retail install. I get the same "failed to count the numbers..."-Errors during bootup with kalyway, but the installation starts anyway. Some month ago, the retail installation worked just fine. Back then i had a geforce 8800 GTS, now I own a gtx260. Maybe it has something to do with that card. As I said before, I created a custom boot132 CD including the drivers needed for that card (the driver package, recently released for the new Nvidia Quadro Card along with netkas´ injector.). But it didn´t help, even though the card is recognized correctly during bootup. Any suggestions? Thx alot, Keule Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169786-help-retail-installation-freezes/ Share on other sites
vegaman
I assume something must be wrong with your boot132 disc, maybe a missing kext or using the wrong ones. Another solution, if you have a spare hard drive could be to install kalyway on the spare drive and then do the retail install from there. Then you can set it up from the kalyway install, and delete it once the retail install is working. Kampfkeule
I guess it has soemthing to do with the boot 132 cd, but as I said before, I tried different combinations, with and without the new nvidia drivers, and the result was always the same. I don´t have a HD to spare at the moment... Thx for your help anyway btw. I tried every possible boot flag i could think of (-x -legacy -f cpus=1) - no success :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169786-help-retail-installation-freezes/#findComment-1173201 Share on other sites
Kampfkeule
OK I managed to work around it. I borrowed a 8800 gts from a friend, installed MacOS from the retail DVD (no problems), updated to 10.5.7, installed the newly released gt200 drivers along with netkas injector and switched back to my gtx260 - works Still no CI/QE, but thats probably solvable (EFI Strings etc.) thx 4 the attention Keule Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/169786-help-retail-installation-freezes/#findComment-1173287 Share on other sites
