saoirse73
This is in case someone else wants specific information about the P35c DS3r Rev. 2.0 and Leopard. I have right now just finished installing 10.5.6 from iPC and was able to use Apple update to get the 10.5.7 update. In fact I did it before installing my HD3870 drivers (while in -x) and when the update restarted my video was 1400x900...weird. I then installed the HD3870 install app and I went to horrible resolution. I ran the installer again and it was all good. For 10.5.7 I started with iPC 10.5.6 and grabbed the P35 retail package from this forum. All my bios settings were set from having 10.5.4 installed for 3 weeks so that wasn't an issue. I installed on a USB HDD and formatted it as required by nearly one hundred guides :-) The only snag I had was when I had my USB stick in my front panel it refues to boot from the USB HDD I guess since the stick showed up as USB 01 and the HDD as USB 02, I realized it and removed it during reboots. I left the kernel as is, chose the ich did not choose the jmicron kexts, chose the hd series video but it didn't work and chose the alc889a but that also did not work (thats what the P35 retail package is for :-) Install took about 25 minutes (10 longer than non USB) restarted -f-v knowing I would get a black screen but I wanted everything loaded as directed. When I was in the black screen (no video driver) I rebooted with -x and set up my "mac hack" when inside I then did the Apple 10.5.7 update right away before installing audio or video. WHen it rebooted I had perfect video but like stated above I reran the installer just to do it (at that time I was so happy I did not check the profiler to see if Quartz was enabled) I rebooted then installed ONLY the ALC889a Audio from the P35 retail package, rebooted chose "internal speakers" as directed in the notes for install. Rebooted and sound is working. My IDE DVD drive works too and this is the first time I didn't have to mess with it to get it that way... good job to the creators of this. On Tuesday I have another HDD with a mount for the 5.25 coming and I feel confident that I can have it up and running FAST! I had to try a few things to get this perfect but in the end it seems as if just installing and not messing with too much would have been smarter... Specs: Intel C2D 6750 @ 2.8 (reads as 4Ghz but it did in 10.5.4 too) 4G Patriot DDR1000 1x 320G HDD (Vista Black) 1x 320G HDD (10.5.4) 1x 120G USB HDD (10.5.7 on here) Mad Dog 16X DVD IDE (working fine used it to burn the 10.5.6 through Disk Utility) ATI HD 3870 (QE is not supported on my 42 inch Aquos for some reason but was in 10.5.4) All usb ports including add on in front and card reader working. I guess thats it for now. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone on this forum though I am gonna need glasses with all the reading I have done this week preparing this. I will use 10.5.4 until I can get the QE on my Aquos right because I use this PC for a lot of Media playing. When NE delivers my "stuff Tuesday I will install it internally and check back. Thank you all again I really enjoy OS X so much I have only had to boot into VISTA once since I installed 10.5.4 and hope that stays that way. Use the SEARCH, it is ALL there... Thanks INSANELYMAC!!! saoirse73
Just updating. Since the last post all is working QE enabled and sound issues are no longer a problem ever. I installed iPC again and tried iAtkos 5.1 and I was able to use APPLE update to update to 10.5.7 on both with no issues whatsoever. I updated right after the install even before installing the sound and on both it was very smooth. When my new hardware arrives today I will install one of the those distros on it and use it for a bit. So for DS3R iAtkos and iPC Final only needed the slightest of working to get fully updated ad functional.
