I have it installed with 10.5.7 (iDeneb 1.4 updated) on an Intel DG45ID MOBO. The DVI dual link is pushing my Dell 22" LCD. My res is only 1024x768. I am fiddling with getting it to work with OSX86 Tools, Kext Helper and a few injectors/kexts that I have downloaded. I will post back with what works and what works well.

A review for the card on tigerdirect.com says it does work.

Hi to all.

For complete QE/CI on 9400GT:

Delete every injector that you have: NVinject.kext, NVKush.kext, NVDarwin.kext ...............

Download and install Nvidia 9 series driver of aqua-mac and install it. Don't reboot, with OSX86 Tools create a customized GFX String and reboot.

Hi Guys,

It took me two days to put my XFX Geforce 9400 GT fully working, and I would like to share with you my experience.

First of all, I started with a fresh install using iATKOS 10.5.7 and then iPC 10.5.6 with no success: all the classic Black screen, Blue screen, sound but no video, kernel panic, turnoff your computer in many languages problems etc, etc reported in other posts.

I saw it all, and here is my roadmap to success.

Begining with a fresh install, select a basic intall or any drivers you already know will work with your hakintosh, BUT video.

Reading other posts and playing with this board on Windos Vista I discovered it doesn't make a good job choosing witch output it should use, so I hooked my LG L173SA monitor over the VGA port trough the instalation process.

By doing this, all the install process and part of the post install was made under 1024x768 Vesa mode.

There were a few anoying problems like bad scrolling at Safari window content if using the scroll button of my mouse, but minimizing (click on - ) the app and then getting it back fix it.

First I installed Aquamac's drivers from http://rapidshare.com/files/155562098/NVID...rivers.zip.html

I generate my EFI string by Aquamac's instructions about using GFX string creator of OSx86 Tools, and choose 512 MB VRAM, VGA-DVI.

Bellow is my resulting /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

The next step should be restoring permissions and touching the Extensions.mkext file with OSxTools, but using Aquamac's drivers and install process took me to Kernel Panic on the first boot.

I was able to get rid of it by erasing the /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext file Aquamac's installed.

This is a know bug reported in many other posts. You can give it a try without erasing the file and rebooting with -f-v flags.

If you have kernel panic too, just reboot with -s flag to single user and erase /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext

If you got this far, I suppose you know how to do that but don't forget to follow screen instructions on how to mount your volumes RW in order to erase the file.

Ok, after rebooting I got the anoying video problems solved, my Video RAM and board model was correctly shown but still could not set my video preferences from "System Preferences" and QE was still disabled.

If you got lucky and everything is Ok, stop here or else...

Next step, I installed MacNutty's kexts from http://depositfiles.com/files/3p3og9olw with Kexthelper.

Those kexts replaces NVDANV50Hal.kext and puts a new NVinject.kext and NVDAResman.kext

This time, after restoring permissions and touching extensions.mkext my next boot (don´t forget to flag -f-v) was flawless and QE and Hardware acceleration were both enabled AND I could select resolutions and refresh rate from System Preferences. :D

Then I turn off my computer and changed the conection to the DVI output, turned on again and voila ! everything working beautifuly.

At this point, I strongly recomend you to backup your /System/Library/Extensions/ before installing the rest of your hardware or updating from Apple.

I even update from Apple to 10.5.8 without video problems, but got no sound after that and had to restore my last AppleHDA.kext in order to get sound back.
