lefty2 Posted June 3, 2009 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Is it possible to tell that you are running a hackintosh? I think os x sends data back to Apple for automatic updates and stuff. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell the difference between a normal mac and a hackintosh using this info (or by any other means). Rickylex Posted June 4, 2009 Share Posted June 4, 2009 I think Apple does uses Callbacks to check the currently installation, however, I think they only do that at Software Updates to see what Updates you need. They aren't loosing much money considering it's a very hardware-based profit on real macs, and they don't take extreme anti-piracy measures on their systems. The exception, of course, is when this is sold as a retail product (aka Psytar), and at that point it becomes a mess as we all know...
