Hi, sorry for errors, I'm french, and not used to wirte post in english.

I tried to install, just for fun, Mac Os on my computer.

It's a Medion, but I have removed the case for an Antec one so I don't have the product number.

Its an Q660 processor, with an MSI MS7358motherboard, SATA disk, Geforce 8600GT, integrated lan, E-sata, firewire, and sound..

Some tries give me the install right, but no way to boot after install !

I tried safe mode, single mode, an of course verbose mode, but the famous waiting for root device...

After reading lot of posts mostly on InsanelyMac, I passed all difficulties one by one, and now it's good.

Difficulty for me, is to understand that I have to install EACH of the driver for my OS running.

so, little technical information i Gathered, maybe could it helps someone.

Video driver Darwin 256 Mo works fine

Install Specific driver Intel 82566 for Integrated LAN

the South Bridge Absolutely Need ICH9 driver

the notrh bridge is a G33 Intel.

and also, you MUST have Marvell chipset driver if u want to have IDE working correctly.

I added an IDE drive to pass trough SATA difficulties.

now I will connect my SATA drive and Add a line in my windows boot manager (on a dedicated Partition).

Until now I Also Use Xosl for booting, but its an ooold soft and im not sure it still works fort this type of multi boot.

Now, I will turn on again legacy usb support on my bios to see if it still ok.

thanks Again everybody for your precious advices, posts, tehcnical information, very useful !

Lol !

So, It works correctly, but I tried to upgrade drivers with osx86 tools .. bad idéa :D

After succeded, Impossible to put a USB mass storage without crash. the screen become gray, and I have a message saying that I must turn off the computer ...

I tried to fix with install dvd, tried to patch, tried to repair auth, but no way....

So I finally decided to clean and Install again.

It works better, BUT, I have no more keyboard and mouse working in PS2. I think that's because Legacy support of USB keyb /mouse is activated in BIOS, but 'im not sure. I will test.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, now My computer is stable now, and Mac os work almost perfectly.

I was askin myself about thing I'm not able to find here (sorry, more difficult to find thing for me in english).

When I let computer go to sleep mode, ant wake it up after a while, Nore more web connection.

It's like the eth is no more active. It's not a wireless connection. And I searched the web, the forum, I havent found solution, or people with the same problem.....

I had an idea but I'm not developper so...

When you have to change your OS, to prevent future problem, at first, you check compatibility of your hardware.

Here, I see that a database, implemented by users is under construction. Why not trying to create a soft capable of checking hardware, and compare it with some databases existing about Mac Os installation.

I imagine a sort of helper wich could create a text log, saying things like " Your motherboard is an XXXXX. It should work with .....kext, XXXX kernel...."

And in the end of it, a sort 'score' which says to you if apparently you should try or not to install Mac Os X.

Maybe it's a dream, and I'm really not able to create this sort of tool, but it's quite interesting.

By the way, last question of the day, why doesn't it exist a sort of module to have compatibility for keyboards PC /mac

I remember, when I was working in a society, we had to integrate AS400 server and pc on the same lan. The computers were connecting to the AS 400 and emulate terminal to wrk (sorry for the terms, my english is veeeery limited). The keyboards of AS400 are signifactly differents of pc keyboards.

There was a soft I remember used, where there was two windows, one for input, one for output.

On the left, I see a classical keyboard, with the ascii code the keyb send by default, and on the right, I entered the Ascii code I should have for AS400 working.

Does it exist on mac. I havent found ...

EDIT : I just found Ukulele, sry :)
