Jason Dax
I need some advice. I already search the forum, but find nothing related. First, I'm not a totally noobie. I already have installed 10.4.5 on a Dell Inspiron 5100. But, a broken LCD make me buy another one. The laptop I buy is a Latitude D820, with this specs: -Core Duo Genuine Intel T2500 2GHz, support SSE, SSE2, SSE3. -Video integrated, Mobile Intel 945GM Express -1GB RAM -SATA 100GB 7200 RPM -SigmaTel Audio -Broadcomm NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit -Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG. Install natively 10.4.5 using MyZar DVD. Install smoothly. Restart, get to the welcome screen in other languages. Ask me for keyboard, move data from another mac, network connection type. But, stop there. Start to configure the network, then gave a black screeen with a white cursor in the top left of the screen. Reading the forum, find something about connecting an external monitor. Do this, restart, repeat all the process. In the external monitor get all the time a gray empty screen. Some one has seen something like that? I'm downlading another DVD image, to see if anything changes. Best Regards to all! mgarriga
I was able to get 10.4.4, 10.4.5 and 10.4.6 running on the same machine but I had to disable the 2nd core in order to avoid a kernel panic during installation for all flavors. You seem to be getting further along, so I don't think that's the issue. I've had no issues whatsoever related to needing an external monitor and all supported resolutions were available in all three versions. To be honest, I'm not sure what DVD images I was using as I've since deleted the torrent info . . . I'm sure you'll get it working - it is possible. Wireless neither...
