Hi everyone, I'm attempting yet again to install OS X on my laptop, I've been trying to do it and understand it for a long time now but I usually end up having to give up so that I can go back to life lol. So for starters, I'm installing on a Dell Vostro 1500 with the following specifications:

15.4" Screen, 1680x1050

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250

2GB RAM @ 667MHz

512MB NVIDIA 8600M GT

Dell 1390 Broadcom Wireless G Card

160GB HDD (reported as SATA)

DVD RW Drive

I started digging into this again and I had purchased OS X 10.5.4 from school around a year ago so I used the Boot 132 method and got to the installer. Already my touchpad does not work or my keyboard, I have to use externals but I assume this is something I'll have to fix with kexts later.

As for the installation I've run into a snag. I have Windows 7 installed right now and I don't wish to be rid of it and this is how I have my HDD partitioned:

#1 System Reserved (W7 created this during install and is about 200MB in size)

#2 Windows 7 space= 95GB

#3 RESERVED FOR OS X 20GB

#4 RESERVED FOR Linux Mint 20 GB

#5 FAT 32 Space for Inter-OS Sharing 15GB

The installer wouldn't let me install to the #3 partition and complained about wanting a GUID partition table rather than MBR but I also read a guide on dual booting saying to simply reformat the desired partition as OS X Journaled which I did but it still complains. From here GUID will reformat my entire drive and I will lose my data but if this is what needs to happen that is fine, i just keep seeing dual boot guides saying to start off with Windows first (my scenario) and then install OS X, but I don't see how. For the time being my priority is to get OS X and then my Linux Mint OS installed before installing Chameleon to manage the booting of the three. From there I want to make OS X up and running as efficiently as possible.

Please help me get past this first step and understand the basics of the partitioning and installing. I just can't seem to find a guide explaining how to make OS X play nice with MBR. Thanks in advance for any help!
