gazo
Does Carbon Copy Cloner work on an OSx86 machine. I use CCC on my G5 and clone it to another Hard Drive. Therefore is it possible to clone the OSx86 system to a drive and if something goes wrong with your system, you can just replace it with the cloned drive? SticMAC™
Yes it is done like that, you just need to run Chameleon to that drive to make it bootable again as CCC doesn't do that part! c0rk007hck
Why do you think not? If you put osx on a pc, you've mac; not a windows with mac interface... Danyel
Hi c0rk007chk: The architectures for PowerPC, Intel Mac and Hackintosh/OSx86 use different boot record schemes. Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper should work fine on real Mac's (PowerPC or Intel Mac's). If you are using Hackintosh/OSx86 PC, you will need different utility. I use Clonetool Hatchery for my OSx86's PCs (Tiger or Leopard-based). http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24693 Here's what I usually do (for OSx86 PC's): 1) Boot from Tiger or Leopard OSx86 DVD. 2) Go into Tools - Disk Utility. 3) Format and create Mac OS Extended partition (be sure to choose correct one!) and make sure the options are set to MBR (Master Boot Record). 4) Quit the Disk Utility and Installer. Remove the DVD-ROM. 5) Go into existing OSx86 Partition, and open up CloneTool Hatchery. 6) Make sure the correct Source and Destination are selected. 7) Uncheck the Erase Disk and Bless Disk. 8) Click on Hatch. After completed, reboot and boot into new clone! BlackCH
You can use Carbon Copy Cloner on hackintoshes. Theres no problem with it. I do it all the time. Also you can use GUID (GTP) partition schemes too; no need to stick to MBR only. As stickman said, you will need to install chameleon bootloader (get the installer on their site) onto the backup disk to make it bootable.
