The.Se7enth
I've posted a topic on another forum, "Hackint0sh.org", with no avail. I burned the DVD quite wonderfully, which seems to be a problem most everyone else has, but after installing it, it refuses to boot. It simply loops through the start-up over and over, telling me to select a hard drive to boot from (or boot from the DVD), and then repeats when I select the hard drive. I don't understand how to get the info from DxDiag the same way everyone else does, so I'll paste it like so: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 5/27/2009, 14:21:02 Machine name: BRADEN Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: SIEMENS AG System Model: SIMATIC IL 40 S V2 BIOS: Version 5.00 R2.14.1567.01 Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2046MB RAM Page File: 397MB used, 3545MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: RADEON 9250 Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. Processor is actually 2.88 GHz, and enabled Hyperthreading; not two CPU's nor dual-core, though it performs as good as one. The "Computer" under Device Manager says "ACPI Multiprocessor PC", whatever that means... All the chipsets in Device Manager also display Intel: AGP and I/O controllers are "Intel 82865G/PE/P/GV/82848P"; Firmware Hub Device is "Intel 82802"; SMBus, LPC Interface, and USB Host Controllers, and PCI Bridge, are "Intel 82801EB". I've tried booting with various combinations of "-v", "-f", "-s", "-x", and "cpus=1". I've tried checking as minimum things as possible in install, and even checking what I thought seemed like I'd need. No matter what I've picked and tried to boot with, it still reboots continuously after reaching the Darwin loader [boot select screen]. Any ideas? The.Se7enth
Tried again to install as minimal as possible; only base system & applications. Booted with "-v -f -x", which I'm told is the best thing to try at first. Amidst all the text that flies past, this bit stood out to me as what would probably be the error I'm running into... How do I fix it? I partitioned & mounted the drive in iDeneb's "Disk Utility", and it installed just fine, but won't boot. Could the problem be because it's an IDE hard drive, and not SATA? It's an older drive, before SATA became the standard. It was made before 120 GB's even came out, much less 250's, 500's, or the current 1 TB's...
