I need a new desktop computer that will allow me to run osx 86 and linux. I don't want to get a really cheap computer that will be out of date within a few months but rather I would like to build a computer for about $500-$750. Is this possible? This is what I have so far:

Case: Cooler Master Case - $49.99 OR a Mac Pro case (will a Mac Pro case work???)

PSU: Corsair 650TX 650W PSU 94.99

RAM: 2x 2GB Ram 48.99

Video: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 109.99 or EVGA 9800GTX 512mb 129.99

HD: 1xWestern Digital Caviar Black 500gb 69.99

Optical:LG 22x DVD Burner-Black 24.99

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Proccessor 167.99

Mobo: ???? I have no idea what to pick.

The 9800gtx has full native support on OSX, I would stick with it or possible a 4870 if you can get a good deal on one somewhere.

For a motherboard, unless you are planning on expanding the system, Id go with the Gigabyte G31 ES2L just for how compatible it is with OSX, full support lan, sound, sleep shutdown, etc.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...=Gigabyte%20G31

If your after a full sized ATX board, from this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=141769

It looks like the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3 is quite a decent board as well.

It's a litlle bit outdated to me to spend that much for a Core 2 Duo processor, unless you'll be needing virtualization technology — the E8x00 has it, the E7x00 hasn't. It'd be a smarter choice to buy a Quad if you wanna keep it for a while. For virtualization, you'd need a Q9xx0.
