jtrobinson
I am trying to install 10.5.2 on my AMD machine. I have changed my HDD controller to AHCI (the only way it'll progress past "still waiting for root device") type -x -v -s when booting darwin. I get the splash screen and can create a partition on the HDD in question easily with journaling available within the disk utility. I then select the feature i want to be installed and it progresses fine through the install up until about 30-40% complete on progress bar. The HDD then beeps (at 5sec intervals) and I can hear it trying to spin up. Any ideas? My Spec is as follows: AMD Athlon X2 5400+ Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3 4GB DDR2 2 x DVDRW (SATA) 2 x HDD (SATA) nVidia GeForce 8600GT Have Vista Ultimate installed on one HDD and trying to install OSX on the other HDD with it's own partition. Thanks in advance, Jake Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168181-install-freeze-hdd-beeping/ Share on other sites

jtrobinson
Hmm.. talking to myself here but.. Does the name of my hard drive make a difference? I have read a previous user mentioning that leaving a space in the partition name makes a difference. Is it that sensitive to spacing?
