Hello,

I'm new to the Mac OS in general, but I'm very comfortable with BSD / Linux systems, so I shouldn't require too much hand holding. I bought an old IBM Thinkpad T41 on the cheap, and I thought I'd try throwing on OS X, but am running into some problems.

I initially got a copy of the uphuck 1.3 release (as described in this thread). I followed those instructions to the letter, but the system wouldn't properly boot after the install was completed. While doing some hunting around, I got the impression that installing 10.4.x wasn't really the way to go, so I then got a copy of the Kalyway release.

I installed Kalyway (it gave almost no options during the installation, unlike the uphuck release), and the installation itself went without issue. When I boot the system, I see the following prompt after the BIOS POST:

Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132

1023MB memory

VESA v2.0 31MB (ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500)

Press any key to enter startup options (#)

So, I hit ENTER (because I have no idea what kind of options to throw at the bootloader). I see the white background with the gray Apple logo, and the progress wheel-sorta-thing animation underneath it. The wheel animation keeps going and going, so it doesn't look like the OS is hard locked or anything.

I see on the OSx86 Wiki that a handful of T41 models are 'known good' ( HCL ), and there are two things that I see:

1) A few of the T41 entries in the HCL state that there's a known CardBus issue that causes the boot to hang for about 5 minutes, which can be fixed by applying a patch.

2) My specific T41 model, T41 2373-7FU, is not listed on the HCL.

As for #1, I've let it sit at this boot screen for literally hours. I would hope it'd be enough.

As for #2, since my specific model isn't listed - does this mean I'm out of luck?

I'd really like to get OSx86 running on this, so any input would be appreciated.

Edit:

Ok, so after poking around for a bit, I found that I can verbose boot instead of the apple logo.

Last few lines of output before it just hangs:

MAC Framework successfully initialized
using 5242 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

And it hangs at the next line, which is just the white cursor block.
