radambe
I am running a Leopard retail install (via the UD5 guide on this site) on my Gigabyte UD4P board, with a Core i7 920 OC'd to 4ghz. The CPU temperatures @ full CPU load are massively different between OSX and Windows7 64. In Windows, running 8 threads of Prime95, my temps never go above 63C ~ 65C. In OSX, under full CPU load, the temps are hitting 80C. In OSX, I am using Temperature Monitor to read the temps, and in Windows I am using the Gigabyte EasyTune6 application. I have searched the forum extensively and not found any definitive answer as to why this is happening, if Temperature Monitor is actually correct, and if so, how to fix this. I thought perhaps that Windows could possibly be underclocking the chip back down, and that's why it is running cooler, but I have ruled that out (i think). Cinebench scores over 3000 points more in Windows. Has anyone had any luck with figuring this out? thanks!
