Hello,

i`ve got a problem with this "update"-process shown below in the screen.

Sometimes the process stucks at 100% cpu usage and the only help is to reset my pc.

Is there any Tool like process explorer to find out what app is responsible for this process?

Activity Monitor shows only launchd as the "father"-process

So, after a bit of research i`ve found this:

update: Responsible for keeping disks synchronized with the file system cache, to keep data loss to a minimum in case of a crash.

The update command executes a sync subroutine every 30 seconds. This action ensures the file system is up-to-date in the event of a system crash.

So it seems that process is necessary :(

Nice. I looked at mine for a minute or so but it doesn't go past 1% at any time. Try copying a big file from one HDD to another or from folder to folder and see if it takes lots of CPU cycles. Maybe it's a configuration problem or driver problem.

btw, if you find a good site that lists Leopard system processes, please share the link.
