pampaboy
Hi all people, first is good to be here. Im gonna tell you my experience installing leopard, hope to help someone and hope to be helped. I barely speak english so dont laugh these are my laptop specs: -Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.6 GHz, 1000 Mhz, L2 Cache 2mb)Supports x86,x86-x64,MMX, SSE,SSE2,SSE3 -Chipset: Intel Calistoga-GM i945GM -Memory: 2Gb -Video Adapter (integrated graphics): Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family (128mb) -Disk Drive: Fujitsu MHV2160BT PL (160Gb, 4200 RPM, SATA) -Optical Drive: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K16M -Network Adapter: Intel PRO/100VE Network Connection -Wireless Network Adapter: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG -Audio: Sigmatel STAC9225 Intel 82801GBM -1394 (firewire) network Adapter: Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 -Camera: sony visual Communication Camera VGP-VCCC1 -Touchpad: ALPS Pointing Device for VAIO -Keyboard: Standard 101/102-key -Flashmedia: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Roughly those are the components of my laptop. 1) I had three partitions in my hard drive, one hidden with the recovery of windows XP (10gb), one with my windows XP installed (28gb) and other which I eliminate using Acronis Partition Expert. 2) So I decided to install the OSX Leopard 10.5.6, downloaded the iDeneb 10.5.6 and burned at low speed. Think I spent a day, trying several configurations in the customize option in the installer, but I never was able to see the welcome screen of OSX, first I saw the gray apple and then a Blue screen, or Gray screen. 3) Downloaded iPC OSx86 10.5.6, and this one worked for me. In the customize section I selected the following options *Video Drivers: Intel\GMA 950 *Chipset Drivers: Intel ICHx Sata Drivers *Audio Drivers:None because It didnt appeared in the list *Ethernet Drivers: Intel PRO 100/VE *Wireless Drivers: None because I think they are in development *USB Drivers: Patched USB Drivers *Power Management: Apple ACPI Battery Manager *Fixes and Patches: ACPI Fix, Shutdown/Restart Fix , PS / 2 Keyboard Fix, PS / 2 Mouse Fix (without these last 2, in the first installation I hadnt keyboard and touchpad) Finally worked, so I started to test the different components: What worked instantly: Touchpad (but not the button press in the touchpad) Keyboard Firewire port Screen at 1280 resolution DVD (reading and writing) Battery level (indicating only the %, it doesnt show the remaining time) Volume up & down buttons, turn on/off button. I begun my solutions search, in the following items: Network Intel PRO 100/VE, it didnt worked with the drivers supplied by the iPC, so I followed this guide: PRO/VE . And the network was habilitated just for one time, I rebooted and it appeared me red in the system preferences, so I decided to try the option Better try this in the post nº7 of the same Topic. Audio: for my sigmatel 9225 I found the solution here: 9225 downloaded the patcher and the stac9255.txt. Now my laptop speakers sound, but not the microphone. Touchpad: followed this : 2 fingers and scroll with 2 fingers works great, horizontal and vertical. Also the button option worked. Brightness of the screen: Used this program: Shades . which allowed me to lower or raise the level of bright easily, by assign it to a key combiantion. Great application: Brightness After all the Leopard behaves really good, much better than when I installed kalyway 10.5.1. Ive got some doubts, I ´ll thank who if someone got an answer to these issues, or any question. 1) I dont know how to increase the pointer speed, it really moves slow, very slow. 2) Sometimes appear on my screen "artifacts" or things that are not supposed to be there. Is there a more recent driver for my GMA945? 3) about the Fn keys of my laptop, any hope? 4) I had to disabled the sleep function, cause it makes my computer crash, returning with no keyboard and things like that. szemettelep
Thanks for your guide. I have the vgn-fe650g (almost the same). I also spent a good couple of days doing the same thing. Have you had any luck with Snow Leopard yet? Thanks!
