MrSniffer
I deleted the EFI partition as a means of enabling Vista to run. Can anyone elaborate on what I no longer have in the way of functionality, that was in the EFI code? Any workarounds? Christoph Pfisterer
On an Intel Mac, the EFI System Partition is empty and unused. There should be no ill effects from deleting the partition. However, if you deleted the first partition in the MBR partition table, you should be a bit careful. In the hybrid GPT/MBR format generated by the Boot Camp Assistant (and diskutil), the first partition is a protective partition entry that spans not just the EFI System Partition, but also the GPT table itself. Without that entry there is a risk that you'll overwrite the GPT table. Also, most OSes and tools will not recognize the GPT and fall back to the MBR table when the protective entry is not present.
