hoshin
Good morning all! I'm new to the forums, new to Macs, and of course, osx86 stuff. Lots of "news" going on here So I decided to pick up a Dell Mini 9 for the sole purpose of playing around with OSX. I did some research: some of it easy to grasp and others things a bit overwhelming. In any case, here is my issue, I was hoping someone could demystify this for me. I used iDeneb 1.3 to install OSX 10.5.5 and everything was perfect. The tutorial I used said that I wouldn't have my wireless network drivers working at initial install, but they did. So I'm thinking I got lucky. Next I figured I'd install the official 10.5.6 update since some people on the forum had luck with doing it. Plus I figure if anything messes up, I'm not out much time, I'd just reinstall. So 10.5.6 installs, reboots and I'm back into OSX. Now the only issue is that the keyboard, trackpad, and wireless don't work. I can plug a USB mouse in and that'll work just fine. So I'm assuming that the update wiped out the custom drivers that let the mini and OSX play nice together. So I figure I have two options... 1: Find a way to install the needed drivers from iDeneb or 2: Do a fresh install of iDeneb 10.5.6 (which I got this morning after all of this). With option 1, I'm not sure where to start. I have the image mounted on a USB flash drive. With option 2, I've tried to boot with the 10.5.6 USB image and it's saying I need to reboot. It looks like there's a kernel panic. I'm thinking that's because of the existing installation on the hard drive maybe? I have no problem formatting and reinstalling but I can't seem to get that far. I've done the -v -f commands and they don't seem to change the outcome. Would it work with the original 1.3 image to format, then reinstall with the 1.4? I've tried to solve this on my own and with the help of existing posts but I'm kind of stuck. If I am missing anything with regards to a similar post, I'd sure appreciate a point in the right direction. Any help would be great! I'm at work right now on my phone with limited ability to do additional research, but I can't stop thinking about my mini sitting at home, the poor thing! Thanks for reading this post and for any help you may be able to offer!
