gebseng
following f355's GREAT explanation ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1156081 ) i finally managed to install osx86 on my trusty amilo 3520, and it works pretty well! the only hard part is the total lack of power management - no sleep, hibernate or battery gauge. I'm thankful for every suggestion, geb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166392-fsc-amilo-ui-3520-and-xxx-1056-sleep-pwer-management/ Share on other sites
Danstevens
There might be some battery gauge display kexts or whatever on the DVD under the customise option - I know there are with iPC. As for sleep/hibernate, these are things that often fail to work on a lot of OSx86 systems. By power management, what exactly are you referring to? gebseng
Hi Dan, with power management, I basically ment the ability to sleep/hibernate the computer, and to have the computer recognise the difference between battery and plugin power. Thanks for the info. I'm aware that the distribution (in this case, XxX_osX86 10.5.6) has various options to install different kernels and kexts during install. I'm just not sure how to make any changes post install, without having to start all over again... geb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166392-fsc-amilo-ui-3520-and-xxx-1056-sleep-pwer-management/#findComment-1156161 Share on other sites

Install VoodooPower and VoodooBattery, both are found here: http://superhai.com/darwin.html Beware, there's kind of issue with VoodooPower on Atom processors - when on battery, it scales frequency down a lot, so system becomes completely unresponsive. But here is the fix. First of all, lurk the forum and old good wiki about basic .kext-related things: folder structure, Info.plist, installation, repairing permissions, etc. Of course, I can write a kind of step-by-step guide for you, but that's not so interesting, right? =) Then, edit VoodooPower Info.plist to change all three TStateControl parameters to false. Install kext with modified .plist inside, repair permissions, reboot, and you're done with battery indicator and CPU frequency scaling. I'm looking for the method to make sleep working, will write on success. And I suggest you to forget about hibernate on this machine, its' HDD is just too damn slow. Dumping or restoring 1GB of RAM at 20-25MB/s will take near one minute to accomplish, are you sure you're in? =) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166392-fsc-amilo-ui-3520-and-xxx-1056-sleep-pwer-management/#findComment-1160029 Share on other sites
gebseng
thanks again, f355, this is very helpful! I totally agree on the hibernate issue... geb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166392-fsc-amilo-ui-3520-and-xxx-1056-sleep-pwer-management/#findComment-1164121 Share on other sites
gebseng
another question: is there a kext that allows to control screen brightness? thanks, geb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166392-fsc-amilo-ui-3520-and-xxx-1056-sleep-pwer-management/#findComment-1164171 Share on other sites
