Hi guys,

3 months ago I installed osx leopard from a retail DVD 10.5.6 using boot 132 method.

I followed the method to install the kexts. Then updated other kexts for my video card, sound, wireless, etc..

I have been using it since and everything is fine. Not a single crash or problem.

However from time to time, I have some problems with shutting down (sleep doers not work unless I force it from the menu)

Sometimes, it looks like it has shut down but the power supply is still on - and I have to hold the power button to switch it off - and sometimes the shutdown works fine (although sometimes after a proper "shutdown" I have a grey screen asking me to power off the computer).

I had a look on the net for fixes and one that I have found is related to the vanilla kernel.

When I start the computer, I have osx booting and it displays Darwin xx.xx.xx

This is where it is getting confusing for me because I also read on the net that it does not necessarily means that this is the kernel I am using.

The net also said that if the installation was done via a retail dvd then it is vanilla.

When I open "about mac" and system profiler, under the kernel section it says Darwin 9.2.6 (from memory but it could be something in the middle. I am sure it is something like 9.x.6).

I would like to know what the real kernel is that I am running. is there a command line? I know uname command but I read that it should not be used reliably on mac/osx.

If it is indeed Darwin, how can I fix this shutdown problem since I can only find a fix for vanilla kernel?

I would appreciate if someone could let know.

Thanks
