ThaHatter
I have been trying to install OSX on my laptop for about a week now. I have tried so many things and the closest I have come is to a frozen Grey Apple Logo screen. BIOS Notebook Model: HP Pavilion dv2500 Notebook PC System Board ID: Wistron 30D6 Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 (The actual computer model is HP Pavillion dv2615nr) Ok, here's what I've done so far. I have tried Kalyway, iDeneb, and Hackintosh. No luck. I couldn't get it to recognize my SATA drive, so I have installed it on a partition of an External. I have re-installed it god knows how many times and still no luck. I have gotten up to the grey load screen with the apple logo and the spinning dial thingy. I can't remember how I got it that far. Usually, when I install thinking it's going to work I get a "Missing Operating System" error then I try to boot the external. I tried all the terminal commands to get it to be active, still no luck. Really, even though I have been researching quite a bit. Reading every tutorial I can find. Doing everything I can, I still cannot find anything as to what kernals I should load or anything. I know, it's pretty bad. But, I just can't find it. If I do find it, the person who replies has some form of "You stupid n00b. LOOK FOR IT!" Yeah well, that doesn't work sometimes and some of us really have no clue about Mac OSX or anything. I am not a moron, I am a windows programmer with experience in linux as well. I just don't know what to do anymore. I really want to get this installed and I'm not going to quit until I do get it installed, but this is my post reaching out for help. I hate to be the clueless n00b, but you know what? I really have no other options at this point. My head hurts. Edit: I also need to mention that if I cannot get use of 3D applications, then it's really no use to me. The Laptop has an internal nvidia vga that's supported by every OSX86 distro i have come across. I cannot remember the exact name of it as I post this. Also, if you need ANY information from me to get this thing going. Please do not hesitate to ask. I will be watching this thread until I get it installed. ThaHatter
Would it be possible for someone to tell me what kernals I should load? There are so many and it takes 3hrs to complete a total install. Or possibly how to boot it up to bypass that missing operating system? Like I said, I have tried the mount fdisk -e /dev/rdisk5s2 stuff several times. I have also tried booting with rd=rdisk5s2, still no success.
