zabar
Hi everyone- I am using an Acer Aspire 5570z, which may just be the most random model that Acer has ever crapped out. I have been doing my reading and thought I had everything down and documented in order to start the installation. I set aside a partition (FAT32), downloaded and burned the .ISO file to a DVD in Nero, restarted the comp and set Boot Order to go from CD DVD drive first, and I went straight to Windows. I went back and disabled all boot options other than CDDVD and I got the command prompt line, No Operating System Found. How did this go bad? The burn appears to be good, and I can see the .ISO when I open the CD in explorer. Should I be using a different distro? Should I have done something with the ISO before I burned it to the CD? I know these topics are absolutely a dime a dozen, but any help is appreciated. I'll keep pluggin away at it, though! I really appreciate and believe in what is being done on this site. Keep it up! zabar
Bump from obscurity. I'm trying to download the iDeneb distribution. Can someone comment on the burning process for Nero? Is it as simple as just burning the .ISO file to the Disk or do I have to prep the drive in some way? I already set aside a 20gb partition that's in FAT32. Danstevens
It's been a long time since I used Nero for an iso but there shouldn't be anything else you have to do. For absolute ease of use when burning isos, IMGburn can't really be beaten. Burning isos is all it does so as long as you get the correct file, you can't really go wrong. What speed did you burn the disk at? Burning it too fast can cause errors. zabar
Thanks for the reply, I just downloaded the IMGburn, seems way easier than Nero. Nero also burned at 8 or 16x, I can't remember, so I set IMG burn to go at 4x. Everything is prepped now, just gonna check the Acer iDeneb tutorial over in those forums to check all what parts I need to install, then going to give it a go.
