Akshunhiro
Hi there, I have the same GFX card as you and I just use an EFI string. You don't need anything else as long as you are up to date (10.5.6). Easiest way is to use EFIStudio! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/165956-8800gt-situation/#findComment-1153311 Share on other sites

The problem is that i dont get all that EFI and kext stuff i just dont know how to use it, and about being up to date do i have to download a new version of iatkos? or i just update with the apple official update. I would really appreciate some help with that EFI thing. The wierd thing is that i downloaded iatkos version that contains 1.5.6 but at the middle of the installation process it tells me that there was an error installing, that it couldn't read my Hard Drive, maybe i did something wrong, or i didnt burn it right i dont know. But thanks man for your help! this site is great! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/165956-8800gt-situation/#findComment-1153317 Share on other sites
Akshunhiro
Hey again, EFIStudio is very easy to use. You don't need to go editing files, it will do it all for you. Just select your video card model from the list (make sure you get the memory size right too) and tell it to write to plist. It will save it to com.apple.Boot.plist and ask for your password. Once you reboot, it should be fine. I'm not sure about iAtkos but you should be ok with nvidia drivers as part of OS X. I had a hell of a time getting my install right after using Kalyway. I ended up with an MBR install that was pretty flaky and unreliable. Ended up with a Boot 123 install with retail GUID and it's pretty much perfect! Ok this is what i did, i downloaded EFIstudio from google, then i opened it and i selected 8800GT 512 (thats my card) so then i wrote to boot.plist i think it is and the i rebooted. But then nothing happened, i cant even change the display i should be able to change to 1280 x 1024 but i just get 1024 x 768 no other option :S i dont have to install it right?? cause when i try to install EFIstudio it tells me that my HD extension needs to be formatted as GUID.
