Small world, I've got the same laptop. Unfortunately, I haven't much luck either. The iDeneb DVD doesn't even load into the installer (freezes and panics at loading some module) and I haven't had time to check out other versions. It's weird, you'd think that a 945 intel chipset with a Core 2 Duo processor would be better supported.

how to get Mac OS X installed on my TravelMate 8210; however, I have found nothing!

For last two weeks i'm trying various configuration on my Travelmate 8210 (exactly 8215 WLHi).

As far allmost all works, but ATI Radeon mobility x1600 and WiFi.

iATKoS 10.5.7 runs with cpus=1 boot option.

my extra install options:

- bootloader: chameleon 2 // after restart press tab for kernel options (cpus=1 -v -x etc..)

- x86patches:

>> Extra Dir

>> DSDT

>> Decrypters : Apple Decrypter

>> ACPI : APIC Driver

- Drivers

>> VGA : ATI -> ATI HD // this doesn't work (seems to)

>> System : CardBus driver

: Sound -> Azalia Audio Drv

: PS/2 mouse keyboard -> Voodoo PS/2

Video runs at standard 1024x768 Hi-Color resolutions on VESA 3 compatible std apple driver

Now i'm trying set video drivers for ATI x1600 and after many attempts it works at 1280x1024 on external LCD monitor (powered by ATIinject with EDID) but i can't force him to run more than 1024x768 on laptop onboard LCD.

Now i'm going to try "natit", will see ;-)

maybe my experiences with my travelmate 6292 might help you.

I did a vanilla install from within another leo (hdd connected to my big hacki) and installed chameleon RC1.

needed to apply the BMC5787.kext for lan to pass the setup screen (the setup done trick didn´t work for some reason).

to boot into the installed harddrive on your acer you need to set flag cpus=1.

updated to 10.5.6. and patched DSDT

as soon you have succesfully running 10.5.6, apply chameleon RC2 and write this to your com.apple.boot.plist

<key>USBBusFix</key>

<string>Yes</string>

now you should be able to boot without cpus=1 flag and have a running system :)

Nice, but I have started from iATKOS 10.5.7, no need to connect to another computer. It is working. But I can not pass through DSDT patch (8 errors). I have tried Your advice with the forced one DSDT.aml , but it haven't worked.

So I'm still looking for DSDT patch, because i need 2 cores working and VT-x (hardware virtualization) to run Parallels. or VMWare

But anyway thanks for clues.

Right. This seems abit dead so im gona start it up again (yn)

First off use im using the iAtkos v7 (10.5.7)

Boot from disk Press F8 and use the -v and cpus=1 boot flags to avoid any problems.

Next if you run into the unable to mount problem i had to download JaS 10.4.8 Tiger, Boot into that setup, Go onto disk utility and format the HDD to MacOS Extended (Journaled). Then exit that and boot back into iAtkos with -v and cpus=1. When looking at the log you get to this:

DirectoryService[51]: Launched version 5.0 (v514)

or

jnl: disk0s1: replay_journal: from: 16465408 to: 3492352 (joffset 0x4ab00)

jnl: disk0s1: journal replay done.

and no disk drive activity

Leave it for about 5- 10 minutes and you will then be taken to a gray screen what will then turn to a nice blue background. Hit next and allow the installer load, Then you are greeted with a start screen, click next and accept T's&C's. then you will be given options to install to but click Utilities at the top instead and select Disk utility from the menu, once it has loaded click the top disk and navigate to erase then erase the disk to the MacOS Extended (Journaled) and then exit disk utility. When you see the install options/ locations select the one you just formatted (named what you just named it) and click next. On the next page you will get 3 options: Customize, Go Back or Install.

Click Customize then make sure you have the following selected:

-iATKOS v7 Main System
>Bootloader>
	-Chameleon 2
>X86 Patches>
	-/Extra directory
	-DSDT
	-Decrypters>
			-AppleDecrypt
	-ACPI>
			-APIC Driver
>Drivers>
	-VGA>
			-ATI>
				   -ATI HD
	-System
			-CardBus driver
			-Sound>
				   -Azalia Audio Driver
			-PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard>
-Voodoo PS/2 driver with Trackpad plugin
			-Laptop Battery

Then click Ok

Then click Install

Once the Checking Installation DVD box comes up, click skip unless you want to wait another 45 minutes.

Once installed allow it to restart and you will get the funky little video and song and your done 🙂

Although... ¬.¬

You will be missing Wifi and Full video resolution so please read below:

At the moment there is no support for the original Wifi card (IntelProWireless 3945ABG) so you can either get a new Wifi card, The ell-DW-1390-Mini-PCI-Express-WiFi-card Works naturally with mac so this is the easy option and it is easy to fit in. I will be purchasing one myself soon and i will be posting results.

As for Graphics card, I have only just got my hands on this laptop and i will post guides on how to get the resolution what this Laptop deserves but for now stick up with the one you have got.

I will be trying iPc 10.5.6 soon to see if there are any better graphics support on that but if anyone else wants to feel free to do it before i get a chance to.

Hope this helps

UPDATE: (18/12/2009): Hello. Got my wireless card through today, all works you just need to run software update and update the AirPort Utility, Then i have a full working mac - the full graphics. However i did manage to get perfect resolution on an external monitor Via VGA using this guide: http://apple2pc.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-t...00-kext-on.html once ive backed up my laptop i will try again to get the resolution on external or internal. next time i get it working i will save the .kexts and upload them here for you all to use.

UPDATE 2: (18/12/2009): GRAPHICS WORK INTERNALLY! hell yeah, fully working os x on my acer TravelMate 8210! how to do it? right. *DO AT OWN RISK* Backup your hack! this can be unstable! Download the Graphics.zip file i have attached in there are 6 *.kext's i have had to make (These will only work on The Acer TravelMate 8210) use link for other laptops. copy the .kext's into:

System/Library/Extensions

then open up terminal (search in spotlight) and fix the permitions:

paste this into the terminal window. When it asks for password put your account password in. You will need one!

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions
sudo chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions
sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
diskutil repairpermissions /

Now restart your system and pray

Now i mentioned this is unstable so if when you boot you get lines, black screen, blue screen ext try turning the computer on then when you see the Acer logo plug a VGA cable in connected to a tv and boot. That worked for me but it can be problematic. i am trying my best to get all working i will post updates, full tutorials with videos ect.

Liam

UPDATE 3: (19/12/2009): Right. Bugs Bugs Bugs! the graphics are working at good resolution but there are some major problems. 1 You cant see videos and pictures (there just white) and 2. Sometimes the top bar goes transparent. ive found out this isn't down to the atiinject.kext its another one so im testing different methods for it. Will update and post different files when sorted.

for anyone who has brought the Wifi Card i recommended ive had to edit the IO80211Family.kext for it to work so you can also find that to download at the end of my post.

Heres some proof:

FINAL EDIT:

I have come up with the final solution....

i brought and iMac.

Liam,

This was great. My Travelmate 8200 was retired but now I have Mac OSX on it with 1600x1080 res.

But when I connected an external TV I lost the screen (as you mentioned). I'll try with different TV and monitors and post the results here later.

I use Intel Pro Wireless adapter so I'll try the drivers for it. I also have an LG X110 with SL 10.6.6 (I'm writing on it now).

Did you ever tried later to upgrade or fresh load to your Travelmate 8210 Snow Leopard. My trials all ended with ''2 CPUs expected but 1 CPU find'' kernel panic.

Thnak you again for this perfectly explained post.
