starting hibernate

Hi,

 

first: I am using a dell d830 with ipc10.5.6 install. I had it running almost flowlessly. Just the external monitor connected to DVI on a docking station would not work. (internal does)

 

So while testing around I installed the original OSX kext for the gmax3100 card (10.5.6). well it did not work .. only black screen (turned off). 

 

In anycase this is not about graphic problems.  The problem i am having is that a tryed pressing "power" + S. Which effectifly did put the puter to sleep.

 

But now when i turn it back on again it says (even with -v) "starting hibernate" takes a few seconds and then the machine resets. It does that over and over again. 

 

I tryed booting with all options that i know of (even the senseless onces). Tryed -x -f -s -v ..

 

So can anyone tell me how i can convince my puter that it is supposed to start normally and forget about the hibernated session. (Without reinstalling plz!). Are their maybe some hidden boot options?? Caz as i said it would not even allow me in singel user mode.

Would be ashame if i had to start from scretch because of some silly hibernation image or something.

I would try reinstalling Chameleon.

try making something that opens "sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage" should fix it...

 

if you delete /var/vm/sleepimage, then sleep works next boot, however it comes back

Thanks for the replys.

 

I found a solution.... For fruther reference:

I booted using the install dvd. On the main install screen I opened a terminal (?Utils? -> terminal). then i deleted the directory /var/vm (rm -rf /Volumes/<MacOS>/var/vm)

 

But be sure to probably exit the terminal application and then quit the install app.

 

First I just rebooted after deleteing the files. Without proper exiting. (Thought ... I booted form dvd. Why should i bather with shutdown procedures.) And of corse it didnt work.
