onedayhero
Hey first of all, thanks for reading my question and for attempting to solve my problem. I've bought this dell XPS m1530 about a year ago and I also own a macbook. I've read that my dell will handle OSX much faster than my macbook will (because it's a cheap, nearly upgraded one) and so i'm willing to install OSX on my dell. Now I have my own max OSX install discs (10.5.2) and I'm wondering if i could use those? Because everyone is using Jas, kalyway, and other ones. Now I'm wondering which is best to install on my specific laptop (hardware list below) and if it would make any changes at all? what would you recommend. Before we continue I've clearly read a lot of articles on this website about configuring a dell to mac osx and it seems that drivers are the biggest issue. I've also read macgirls posts on this, very good information but not enough here is my hardware list: processor: Intel T7500 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT sound: no idea, something SigmaTel Audio a like wired connection: Marvell Yukon 88E88040 wireless connection: Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG For the driver part, I don't know which drivers OSX installs on what distribution (Jas etc, that's why i need the best option). I've heard to processor is supported The GPU driver needs to be installed (can i get a link). I know there is no working Marvel driver but I don't need wired connection . I've read somewhere that you guys found a fix on the wireless 3945 drivers. It should be the one of this page: iwadarwin. It says: install at your own risk (for the 3945one). Now I'm confused, will this work or not? I'm aware that I need to use NetworkSelector and not Airport. Also if this shouldn't work (I'm not planning to replace my pci-card though), can't I use an external USB wireless device? (I've got a cheap one from D-link) My media buttons should work with Butler and PS2KeyBoard.kext-V3. (I'll learn how to configure that later on) For battery status I'll use the PowerManagement.bundle by keithpk(but that's for 10.5.1 ...) I have no clue about the audio drivers for this dell; I need some help on that. My main concern is that the drivers should all work on osx, i need to have at least wireless connection, screen drivers and sound. It's also important that the drivers should match the OSX version. If all my question would be answered, I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance, onedayhero Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/165679-installing-osx-on-dell-xps-m1530/ Share on other sites
