Hey guys, kinda new to osx86 and been using RoberT_XeS P5Q thread (got me into install)

Having problems with iDeneb 1.4, iPC and Iatkos 5.1, I can do an install, but every time it does the reboot I get the grey curtain / you must restart your computer error.

My hardware is as follows:

mobo: Asus P5Q3 Deluxe WifiAP /n

chip: Intel Q9400

Ram: OCZ Platinum DDR3

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 280

HD: Maxtor Sata 250gig'

DVD-RW: LG GCW-20L

I have installed the juzzi bios update for 2004 for my mobo and enabled AHCI. I can get into all the installation options on the above three distros.

On iDeneb I click customize and have tried each nvidia kext individually (took all day) however stull have the error. I saw that there are no specific kexts on install for the gtx 280 and I have tried both the 1gb ram options. I also noticed that no matter what kext I select the chameleon loader still only says 14meg when it boots. I select to install all applications and the X11. I have tried with cpu=1 enabled and disabled too but still get the grey curtain.

I tried a similar approach with the other two distros however iAtkos seems to hang halfway through installation. I get the same errors on iPC as I do with iDeneb.

So now I'm kinda stuck, hope someone else has had similar issues with a similar setup and has succesfully installed a distro!

OK, I have managed to get iPC to install and run, have gone through the lovely movie saying welcome in different languages and now have a desktop, WOOHOO!

I have a bunch of kexts from the P5Q thread for audio NEW_AD2000B_ROOOOOB_XES and lan skge_for_P5Q_Deluxe.

As I have finally got it to a desktop I am kinda loathe to start tinkering inside, this is the first time I've ever used a Mac OS, basically I wanna give it a go and see how I like it then gonna go buy one if it's any good.

So what now? I currently have a screen rez of 1024x768 which is incorrect for my monitor (1440x900), how do I go about getting that changed, also is there anything like Device Manager in windows where I can see what hardware I need to find kext files for?

Cheers for helping this noob!

google uinstaller and that has a bunch of built in ones. I don't think there is one for your card so you'll have to manually edit it by scrolling down and doing custom nvidia and following the steps. This is what I had to do for my 9400GT

Good luck and congrats.

Hhhmmm... Uinstaller has just killed my distro back to grey curtain. Think I'm not gonna have much luck with the gfx card as the GTX280 is based on a different chipset to the other nvidia cards. The 9400 is a re-badged 840 with a few extra pixel shaders, same goes for a gtx250 which is a re-badged 9800 (which is a re-badged 8800 GT, stupid nvidia)

Back to the drawing board on that one then! Is there any way for me to force the resolution change without knackering the OS? Also I get a wierd effect when moving windows the contents dont move they kinda dissapear and the edge of the window stays drawn wherever I move the window on the screen. It all goes back to normal if I right click on desktop, just a wierd bug!
