jjjhhhppp
My Specifications: Motherboard: K8S-LA (Salmon) System BIOS Supplier: Award Processor: Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 2.2 GHz processor with HyperTransport support Chipset "North Bridge": SiS 760 Chipset "South Bridge": SiS 964 RAM: 1 512mb PC 2700 184-pin DDR DIMM Audio: Integrated Generic AC'97 AC'97 CODEC Device: Realtek ALC658C 6-channel CODEC Ethernet 10/100 LAN: Realtek® RTL8201CL LAN PHY Integrated Fast Ethernet LAN controller Graphics configuration: NVIDIA® GeForce4 MX 440 Hard Disk Drive: 200GB Maxtor SATA Optical Drives: 2 x 8x HP DVD640 Combo Drives with LightScribe Wifi: Belkin F5D7050 v4 Wireless G USB Bluetooth: Belkin Bluetooth USB I have tried several varieties of OSx86 install DVDs. With the OSx86 install, it was impossible to continue from Disk Utility. On Disk Utility my 200GB Maxtor Hard Disk Drive did not show up, only my DVD drive and USB flash drives. I decided just to install it on my 16GB Toshiba USB flash drive. It installed successfully and it booted successfully. I as able to get drivers for my graphics card but still the Hard Drive was not visible, the wifi did not work, the sound did not work, the second DVD drive did not work, the bluetooth did not work, and the computer kept crashing when I opened "About this Mac". P.S. I used LEO4ALL v2 (which was the only disk that successfully installed OSx86). I need help... What I only need fixed is the visiblity of my Maxtor 200GB SATA Hard Disk Drive, Sound From my Realtek ALC658C AC'97 Sound Card, and Wifi from my Belkin F5D7050 v4 Wireless G USB dongle. I will do whatever I have to, to get this system working. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/165189-compaq-sr1550nx-osx86-problems/ Share on other sites
booger_sniffer5000
Don't even bother with this configuration, SiS chipsets don't and most likely never will work with OS X. jjjhhhppp
But is there anything that I can do? Motherboard Replacement? I desperately want to get OSx86 working... booger_sniffer5000
You can always do a motherboard replacement, or I guess use a USB hard drive and USB DVD drive. IMO I would go with a motherboard replacement. Get something with an Intel chipset. jjjhhhppp
OK, thanks! I'll buy a new motherboard tomorrow, and one that is not SiS... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/165189-compaq-sr1550nx-osx86-problems/#findComment-1149468 Share on other sites
MGJulius
I would upgrade your motherboard and CPU, seeing as motherboards with socket-754 will probably be very expensive.
