jumannie
I have a Dell Latitude D830 Centrino Duo. I've installed iDeneb 10.5.6 i have no sound, or network adapters. That is not really bothering me now though. I want to load some drivers for this machine to get it up and working nicely... I did it last week with some of the same issues but I got it working but I've since misplaced my notes Now what happens is as soon as I plug in ANY USB MASS STORAGE device i get kernel panic :censored2: . Even if i try to boot with the usb storage i get a kernel panic. I've installed: ICHx Fixed PS2 Fixed Keyboard ACPI_SMC fix Firewire remove if anyoe has any clue HOW i can fix this WITHOUT downloading any new kext (nic not working) it would be greatly appreciated!! Grumps
If you're on Voodoo Kernel, try to install the Seatbelt fix. According to the instruction, it should fix the problem but it didn't help with mine. Beerkex'd
Make sure that kernel and System.kext versions match. Open System Profiler and click 'Software' to see the kernel version, and click 'Extensions' to see the System.kext version. Not having these matched will cause problems with USB device mounting and god knows what else. You can extract System.kext from an Apple Combo/Delta Update or from an install DVD using a program called Pacifist (google it). Then install it with kexthelper or OSX86Tools (google them).
