lagarrett Posted May 5, 2009 Share Posted May 5, 2009 So I've got a homebuilt PC that's been running Windows XP. I got an additional hard drive for the PC and installed iPC 10.5.6 onto it, and it's running. The system actually recognizes the XP hard drive (on the IDE channel), and after a second install, I've gotten audio working. Now, I'm at an impasse. On neither install was the system able to see any of the PCI devices, nor was the SATA channel recognized. Now, for no apparent reason, the onboard NIC is no longer able to receive an IP address from my router, although it worked perfectly fine when I installed the first time. If I can get the PCI issue fixed, I'll try to move to the gigabit card at that point. All this stuff works perfectly fine in Windows XP, running off a separate hard drive. So here's the config: AMD Sempron 2.0 GB / 768 MB RAM K8M8MS motherboard (don't remember who the manufacturer is) VIA K8M800 North Bridge VIA VT8237 South Bridge Integrated IDE (recognized; 2 hard drives and DVD-RW) Integrated SATA (not recognized) Integrated RealTek RT8100C (recognized but not working) Integrated AC'97 Digital Audio Controller (recognized and working) 3x integrated USB ports (working) / 4x additional USB ports attached (nonfunctional) AGP NVIDIA 6200LE / 256MB Linksys Gigabit PCI card (not recognized) Bootloader: EasyBCD 1.7.2 running NeoGrub (on primary master / XP drive; OSx86 on primary slave) I tried installing the IOPCI fix on the DVD, but it crashed the system. It also worked for two or three reboots on the second install, then quit. Now it says that my network card has no cable attached. lagarrett Posted May 11, 2009 Author Share Posted May 11, 2009 Okay. Removed the other NICs from the system, swapped the cable, and reconfigured the router. The onboard NIC is up and running and I'm able to access the network and the Internet. That's the good news. The bad news is that the SATA drive is still not being recognized. Even when I use OSx86 Tools, the VIA chipset doesn't show up. In fact, the only downloadable driver that is shown as available is the one for the now-working NIC. Anybody got any ideas why the AppleVIAATA.kext isn't recognizing the VIA chipset?
