CheatRZ
Howdy, I saw a similar topic to this, but mine differs just a bit, so I didn't want to hijack his thread. I hope this is the right section for this anyway. So my first issue, OS X is installed but the only way I can boot into it is by using safe mode (and is how I'm posting now). If I try booting normally, it hangs at the loading screen almost right away. When booting with a -v, This is where it hangs at. The second issue is that my sound device doesn't work. I have a "SoundMAX4* XL featuring Flexible 6 Channel Audio with Jack Sensing" onboard sound device, but I couldn't find anything that would match that in the devices list, so I just chose the AC97 driver.. apparently that wasn't the right choice =P Here's the info about the install and my hardware: Install: iPC 10.5.6 Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel AGPGart 2.7.1 NVIDIA Legacy GeForce Drivers LegacyAppleIntelPIXATA Chipset AC97 Audio Intel PRO 100 /VE Ethernet Seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 Hardware: Intel Desktop Board d865perl Pentium 4 2.8Ghz w/ HT (However, have HT disabled in BIOS) 3GB RAM 120gb EIDE HD EIDE DVD-ROM NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX 256mb AGP Any help is appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164890-almost-got-it/ Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
Don't install AGPGart, it is not compatible with the 865 chipset (see Slice's AGPGart thread in the drivers forum). Your video card will work fine without it, but at 33 MHz PCI bus speeds. This is fine for anything but high-resolution gaming. Just delete it from the extensions folder, delete your extensions.mkext and reboot with -f -v. It should boot up fine without it. iPC 10.5.6 won't boot on my P4 either with HT enabled, but you can re-enable it when you're done installing. Thanks for the help, it got it to march a little farther, but now it found a new stopping point here. I'm able to use the networking when logged in safe mode, so I'm guessing it's something after this that's causing the issue? Thanks again =] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164890-almost-got-it/#findComment-1147980 Share on other sites
CheatRZ
Nevermind, got it figured out ;D Did a search here for mDNSResponder, found a post that said to delete any graphics related files in the extensions folder.. so I removed all the ATI and NV related ones, rebooted with a -F and it worked.. however the ethernet broke, so I put in the CD and re-installed the ethernet, rebooted with a -F and now I have internet and somehow the sound decided to work from that.. Rebooted once more to enable HT and booted without any variables at startup. Officially have a flawless system =] Thanks again, Beerkex'd Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164890-almost-got-it/#findComment-1148028 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
Congratulations. You lost hardware accelerated graphics though. You need to get QE/CI working. Search the forum with the device and vendor ID of your video card to get to the good stuff. Any way I can go about getting the device + vendor ID without the help of windows? Edit: Nevermind, got the device ID directly from the card (BFGR55256OC), however the best guide I was able to find here was this one.. For whatever reason, I get "Permission Denied" when I run the install.. even with using sudo -s ricky-s:~ Ricky$ sudo -s Password: bash-3.2# /install.sh bash: /install.sh: Permission denied bash-3.2# Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164890-almost-got-it/#findComment-1148723 Share on other sites
Beerkex'd
Try changing the device IDs manually then. If you need dev/vendor ID another time you can use lspci. It's built into EFI Studio and OSX86Tools. It's built into EFI Studio and OSX86Tools. Got it. QE/CI officially working, but now some of the graphics in the UI are a bit sketchy, like system preferences and preview >.> example Can't seem to ever have it all haha. I'll start looking into that one and seeing if it's fixable. Other than that little glitch, it's running a lot smoother, and it's nice to be able to use all of the iLife suite =] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164890-almost-got-it/#findComment-1149462 Share on other sites
