I am new to mac and have just installed os 10.5.6. Issue number one is that when trying to view videos from a web page or quicktime they playback with some lag. It is mostly noticeable in full screen. This is only with videos. Screen savers animations and cover-flow are flawless. I have found some topics about issues like this but none with a fix. Second issue is that sometimes when doing things my system will stop responding. The mouse moves but i can click anything or use any shortcut keys. This does not happen much but would be cool if i could fix it. does anyone have any ideas on how to solve any of these issues? sorry for the long post.

If you post your specs you have a better chance of getting help.

All I can say without more information from you is try plugging your monitor into the other output on the video card and reboot.

Open System Profiler, click graphics/displays and check if Core Image and Quartz Extreme are enabled.

They are not options, just a list of capabilities.

If you don't have CI/QE, then that's the cause of your problem.

You need to get your video card properly installed using either EFI device properties string in com.apple.Boot.plist or an injector.

Sorry i didn't read your post properly. This is what i have:

Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 512 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x71c2

Revision ID: 0x0000

EFI Driver Version: 01.00.068

Displays:

SyncMaster:

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Hardware Accelerated

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Rotation: Supported

Display Connector:

Status: No display connected

Does the No display connected present an issue? i have my monitor hooked up with the dvi port. i do not have a vga cable to test the other.

No, that doesn't mean anything.

It looks like you've got full hardware acceleration so that's not your problem.

Try typing X1600 in the search box and see what you can find.

I don't know what else to try, I don't know anything about ATI cards and OSX.
