Hey guys,

Three day's ago, I successfully installed OSX86 to a partition as a dual-boot with Windows XP. Worked great... until this morning.

When I go to shut OS X down or restart it using the menu item, it has been hanging at this line - "MACH reboot." Well, this morning, it did that, and I turned off the computer at the power button like I have been. I immediately restarted it to boot into Windows XP, but after the BIOS screen I got a black screen with a flashing white cursor. I couldn't do anything. It was just after the BIOS but just before the boot loader.

I've been tinkering, but can't seem to figure out the issue. I've logged in to my Recovery Console using my Windows XP CD, and everything is still there. I used the console restore the boot sector and, in desperation, repair the MBR. All the files on my XP partition appear to be intact.

Google has been little help.

Any ideas?

...

By the way, I'm Matt - I'm new here. :D

did you play in control panel in boot disk section?

if yes, its that, never touch it again

now, get the chain0 file from wiki and add a line in boot.ini, as explaned here:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...bootloader_boot

Thank's for the reply. I didn't touch the Boot Disk section, but I do recall seeing it in the control panel.

I blew out the partition with OS X on it and used a boot CD to restore my boot.ini to a backup of the original boot.ini. Still can't get past the blinking cursor screen between the BIOS and the Windows bootloader, but I'm running some diagnostics and hopefully I'll be able to report back later with some more information on what happened and how I will go about fixing it for the benefit of this community. And hopefully I'll be running OS X again really soon.
