jya
Hi I installed 10.4.6 using the DVD Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO_h-t1046 It installed nicely on my Sony Vaio SZ160, and for the first time after the install I have the keyboard/trackpad working! I modified the Yukon driver device ID to get the 10/100 ethernet card working. Now I tried to get the Sound Card working. For some reason the audio card is detected during the installation (it appears as Intel HDA), but not once the full system load. I compared with my 17" Apple iMac (intel CPU) and noticed that they had the same sound card as the Sony Vaio. So I was puzzled as to why sound didn't work on the Sony. I then compared the various extensions, and noticed that on the iMac (also running 10.4.6) almost all kernel extensions were more recent, it also had extensions like AppleIntelGMA950xxx I tried to copy some extensions accross but it failed to boot after, I restored the extensions from Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO_h-t1046, and only copied AppleIntelGMA950xx extensions , it boots however I get a corrupted screen after. This lead me to a few questions, that I hoped you guys could answer 1-Which DVD image also contains the latest 10.4.6 drivers? 2-Which drivers are known to work and I can safely copy accross. 3-Which extensions I shouldn't copy accross ? like the one checking for Apple hardware and protection? Thank you Jean-Yves Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16443-1046-and-extensions-on-real-imac/ Share on other sites

jya
Hum, there's no sound card detected at all on my Sony Vaio. I will try the JaS release and see if it comes with newer drivers. The HotISO one i don't know which version they come from, but it's definitely not up to date.
