I had recently decommissioned my desktop computer as an OSx86 machine because modifications to my mac mini had made its performance far more acceptable. However I noticed that I was unable to install any OS other than OS X on my desktop with the modified BIOS (available elsewhere on this site) installed. No matter how many versions/installers I tried, they'd crash on loading.

I had thought nothing of it when I was trying to multi-boot OS X and Windows and had trouble installing/switching between the two - now I realise the BIOS was the culprit. After substantial effort I managed to get it flashed to an original BIOS. Suddenly, any version of Windows would install again! Has anyone else experienced this?

I plan to recommission it soon - turns out I can't live without the extra performance after all - but I am concerned that the BIOS flash will castrate it again, making for random crashes on bootup, especially if I were dual-booting.

I hear certain Gigabyte boards are good for out-of-the-box compatiblity. Should I bother reflashing the P35 Neo-f with a potentially buggy BIOS or just buy a better board (and if so, which?! PCIE, DDR2, Q6600 compatible)

Thanks for your time!

Am I the only one out there who has dual-booted on a P35 Neo2-FR/FIR??!

Seriously, how come no one else has experienced this? In order to get windows/anything that's not OS X to boot at all, I basically have to reflash a standard unmodified BIOS.
