tls1
I have an IBM R40 submodel 2722 laptop. I updated it to the latest BIOS (v1.33). I set all the BIOS setting to defaults. I have kalyway 10.5.2. I boot up the dvd and install. Everything seems to go well. At the end of install it says it needs to reboot. Upon reboot I hit F8 and type -v (verbose). The last line it writes is "Mac Framework succesfully initialized." "Using 5242 buffer header and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" Then it sits there forever. I have reinstalled a few times selecting different kernels. Always the same. I have seen other posters request help for this issue on this forum and elsewhere for the R40 and other hardware. But the solution appears elusive. TinaBecker75 claims she got it working on a R40. Any help is appreciated (Otherwise it's back to XP ) Thanks in advance, tls1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164368-ibm-r40-laptop-hangs-using-5242-buffer-header-and-4096-cluster-io-buffer-headers/ Share on other sites
tls1
I have continuted to try to get OS-X to work on an IBM-R40 laptop. I have also tried iDeneb (v1.3) 10.5.5.... I installed it and if select an older kernel then it gets further than the above problem. I use the -s -v -x parameters upon startup and I see.. IOPCCardBridge::start failed then it starts spewing out the same message every minute or so... Still waiting for root device I tried fiddling with the boot rd command without sucess. Many other posts discuss physically swapping drives (0 and 1) but this is a laptop. Others suggest a USB hard drive. Neither is really an option. Any help is appreciated. tls1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164368-ibm-r40-laptop-hangs-using-5242-buffer-header-and-4096-cluster-io-buffer-headers/#findComment-1147286 Share on other sites
