eBrY
Hi, I can't wait for the development of a working Kext driver for my 3945 Internal Wireless for my laptop. Debating whether to get an external USB dongle wifi instead of waiting for 3945 to be compatible. Can anyone suggest the best USB dongle (best bang for the buck) cost also considered of the one that will work out of the box for 10.5.6? Please help me, and one that would be on sale at Fry's. Please tell me about how much it would cost there. Just please provide a list of the price, range, and I require one that would be instantly recognized and able to be used in both Windows 7 and Mac OS. I want the Windows compatibity because the range and sensitivity of the one inside my Sony Z (Carbon fiber/magnesium) metal case range really sucks. So looking for a replacement. And I prefer one that would directly use Window's and Mac OS's wireless configuration menus. Not one that have to use 3rd party bloatware. Thanks and looking forward to replies. And finally, I need one that can be purchased at Fry's at a price about the same as ordering online. I don't want to order it online, and wantto get it at a store, Fry's or Best Buy. Thanks! geiman
I can't think of any that don't make you use any 3rd party software, but I do know of 2 that you can buy in stores and work great. I'm using the Hawking HWUG1A. It's a great USB wireless adapter, it has an external antenna so if you're into war driving, etc. you can hook up an external antenna. The software you use with it is easy and simple, just set it up once and forget it. Overall, its the best USB wireless adapter I've used. And with its external antenna, it gets the best reception I've ever worked with in a USB adapter. A second one is the Netgear WG111v2. You need to use the Realtek 8187L drivers, but overall it works pretty good. The signal strength isn't nearly as good as the hawking, but its to be expected. Both of these adapters are available at my local best buy for about $25.00. Online it says the hawking is supposed to be like $40.00, but in the actual store they sell it for much less.
