Sleep problem when USB devices are plugged in

I've been having a weird problem with sleep mode that I haven't been able to figure out with a forum search. My rig is as follows:

Asus M2A-VM Mobo

AMD 64 x2 5200+ Processor

4 GB DDR2 Ram

1 TB WD SATA HDD

Samsung CD/DVD DL Drive

Running XxX 10.5.6

When I installed from the XxX dvd, I installed the "USB Sleep Fix" package because I knew I'd had this same problem before when installing Kalyway 10.5.2. Alas, even though my USB hub shows up as being run by EHCI Sleep Enabler, sleep doesn't work. If there's nothing plugged into the USB port, my computer sleeps fine. Click sleep and it powers down, all the fans stop spinning, and it resumes fine. However, if there's anything plugged into the USB port, it will sleep for a split second -- just long enough that I can hear the fans stop spinning but they instantly power back on and it wakes from it's sleep. As if that's not annoying enough, this seems to cause the mouse axises of my PS/2 Mouse to invert so left/right is up/down and vice versa.

Any thoughts? I'm new to this so tell me if there's any important info I forgot.
