Bawbag
The Dell Mini is working beautifully with retail install disks and the superb DellEFI boot disk from Mydellmini. However there is a minor issue with the Microphone jack, which needs to be disabled in the driver to prevent constant hissing from the speakers. I recently had a similar problem while trying out Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04. Certain configurations of sound + built-in mic + microphone jack would cause loud static or feedback, to the point where I just gave up with both and reinstalled XP Home. It's a minor thing and the guys at Mydellmini have done an amazing job, but they seem happy just to have the speaker and internal mic working fine. Not that I blame them but I'd love to see a method of getting this port working, even if it's a choice between the internal and external mics. Any ideas?
