Hi, have been following the community from the outside for a while, only just now taking my first steps into it. I've been reading up quite a lot, and decided that I want to go for a Core i7-system.

I've been looking at different components, especially mobos, and the currently most popular one seems to be Gigabyte UD5. This is slightly too expensive for my taste, so I've been looking at budget options.

The two I'm considering now are the MSI X58 Pro and Biostar TPower X58. The latter is looking slightly better from where I'm sitting, but I can't find anyone who has used it for a hackintosh. According to the product page it has very similar components to the MSI, and cheaper Asus and Gigabyte, boards. Realtek RTL8111C and ALC888S, JMicron 363.

My question is, is there anything that could prevent this mobo from working? Are they all pretty much created equal except audio/network/etc, or could the board itself have quirks that make it incompatible with OS X?

I know it's very late reply but maybe can be usefull for others, I can assure you that Biostar TPower X58 working very smooth/perfect with Snow Leopard retail or using SL Hazard 10.6.2, SATA, LAN, Sound all working great.

that's from personal experience
