I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 (dv6928us) Notebook

I got it installed - yet my current problems are

Wireless isn't working (Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN)

nor is wired internet working

USB devices don't seem to register when plugged in, yet say if I plug my iPod in- it'll power and charge through computer, but no USB devices are recognized..

When I put a DVD in to play, it says "no valid playback device found" and doesn't care to play DVDs.

** just noticed, no sound is playing either **

Not a very successful run, is it? - I used Kalyway's 10.5.2 disc, one i'd downloaded and burned awhile ago.

If I notice any more problems, haha, I'll post..but if someone would help me, I'd be ultimately thankful as thats about the only hope for this computer...

Thanks again ;)

gahhh. this is stressful.

I've read pages after pages on these things and am still stuck with this stress - someone please do guide me to the light.

Try a different mac DVD, I definitely would, if someone gives me the pointers on what options for it.

Thanks again.. I really need help - no fun relying on someone else to type a post when you have a down computer.

First off, your Intel wireless is not supported. I replaced my 3945 card with a Dell 1390 and it's working great.

I would recommend a newer iAtkos distro, worked well on my (old) dv5250. Starting 10.5.5 or .6 is just simpler than going through the updates.

Most of this stuff you can find using the search tool.

Ah, I'm sorry. Was just getting aggravated with it.

I'll check into those links - had tried a couple other things I'd read.

iAtkos installs horribly and never seems to work on this computer.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong then? I feel pretty dumb right now - never had a computer problem stump me, and then this comes along.

This is about your wireless....

Hope it informs you of the problem, they are working on making a fix....I see your position, what is a laptop without wireless right?

Well keep checking the website and I hope it is released soon, I used to have the 3945 but now have a desktop. Also, if you really want your wireless you should be able to pick up a cheap USB wireless adapter for about $20. Obviously, check the forums to see if the one you are going to purchase is compatible.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I'll definitely look into just getting the chip for inside - i'm no beginner with tech stuff and building/repairing machines - so I'll do that, it's just the Mac thing makes me stumble.

Any solution on the DVD playing issue (no valid device error, I believe) and also the sound issue? The built in webcam would be nice to make work but isnt a huge deal...

haha, you guys will love me when it comes time to do the final install and try and dual boot :P

This search engine is useful :http://######.com/osx86search/index.htm

I think you might need QE/CI to play DVDs. Search for your video card to get that enabled.

Sound worked out of the box for me. Try searching for your vendor and device ID's to find info.
