Dell Studio 540 Frustration!

Help!

 

I have a Dell Studio 540 Quad Core with 6 GB ram...I've changed out the video card to a GForce 9800 w 1 GB ram.

 

I've left the 750GB HD alone and purchased a 160 GB drive to put OSX on...

 

I've downloaded iPC, Kalaway, etc, boot132 with retail, all to no avail.

 

I've tried -v cpus=1, no luck.

 

I get the dreaded "still waiting for root device error" after the Firewire message and something about the iPhone.

 

Has anybody gotten this machine to work? I've searched the forums here, no luck. I've tried unplugging the first drive, very few things in the bios that can be changed.

 

My iMac died (bad logic board, go figure) after about 18 months....no more apple hardware for me!

I have the retail disc that I purchased...
