Hey,

I've got both iDeneb 10.5.6 and iPC 10.5.6. I've burned two copies of the iPC, just to make sure, and I get a kernel panic when my comp starts to boot off of the DVD (either one). I can't even get into the setup, which I assume would be some setting in the BIOS that I can't seem to fix. That's problem #1, and any help for that would be greatly appreciated.

Problem #2 is at least a bit more promising. In iDeneb, I can get all the way through the install, with fixes that I KNOW work for my setup (since I had a working 10.5.5 install with kernel StageXNU 9.4.0). The difference this time is that I'm installing with the voodoo 9.5.0 kernel. Then I restart the comp at the end of the install and I get a kernel panic. Doing a -v in the boot options gives me the message "Invalid kernel ip, won't attempt to handle the trap." immediately before it tells me that there's a kernel panic. I've tried doing a minimal install, with ONLY the kernel and chipset drivers. I've tried doing an install with the drivers that I know work. Anybody have any help with that kernel panic? Know anything I can try? Thanks in advance.

Bump... anyone? please?

I just threw together a machine with this board and have been trying to get it and another going this weekend. Oddly enough, an Optiplex GX270 is stable at 10.5.8, yet I'm having the same problems as you on frankenstein machine with this far superior mobo.

I've tried running iPC 10.5.6 (kernel panic before loads), same with iAtkos V7, iDeneb v6, iDeneb v3. The only that will run is iDeneb 1.4 which will complete install and then KP immediately on boot.

Exhausted/frustrated at this point, but letting you know I'm in the same boat and have started to narrow it down to a few BIOS settings that seem to help a bit. If you're still trying to get this machine going, pls post your BIOS settings/version in detail and I'll do the same tomorrow after a night's sleep. The things that seem to help so far are setting AGP graphics aperture to different values.

32MB gets me farthest before KP, then it nearly loads but hangs at:

localhost DumpPanic[42]: Error getting a reference to IODeviceTree:/options

and gets a few lines further before hanging on:

localhost mds[33]: ... (Error) Index...<not sure this part, my page cut off> IndexOpenBulk:No index

localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[66]: starting

I'm also pretty sure I turned off the RAID controller setting. That's as far as I've gotten. I'd really appreciate any insight anyone has.

Hi, I wonder if you could point me in the right direction Groovely?

I just messed up my 10.5.4 installation on my GX270, and am now trying to install 10.5.8.

Could you please tell me which version you used to install (ideneb, iatkos etc) and any options you selected?

I have got a 2.8ghz and an FX 5200 installed.

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks
